Speaking: Task 1

Activity 1

Hello, students. How are you?
Today, we will do some exercises on speaking. First, please look at the picture below.

Do you know what kind of food is in those pictures?
Have you ever made it?
How does it taste?

Tell us your experience of making this food, and how it tastes. Then, please make a recording of it.

Activity 2
If you tell your friends how to make/do something, your series of instructions is called PROCEDURE. We have studied this text last week. However, I have some supplement for you. Here are some expressions showing the chronological order of steps.

1. First, ... Second, ... Third, ... etc.
2. Next, ...
3. After that, ...
4. Then, ...
5. Now, ...

Activity 3

Read the dialogue below.

Tommy : Mom, would you help me?
Mom : What is it, Tom?

Tommy : I want to have chocolate sandwich for breakfast, but I don’t know how to make it.

Mom : You need to prepare some ingredients.

Tommy : What are they, Mom?

Mom : 1 tbsp. milk, large egg, 2 oz. semisweet chocolate bar, 2 slices bread, 1 tbsp. unsalted butter, Confectioners’ sugar, Ice cream

Tommy : Then, what we have to do first?

Mom : Whisk the milk and egg in the shallow bowl.

Tommy : Ok, Mom. What’s next?

Mom : Place the chocolate between two slices of bread.

Tommy : I want to have a lot of chocolate here.

Mom : Do not extend the chocolate over the bread, Tom. Then, dip the sandwich into the egg mixture.

Tommy : What will we do with the butter, Mom?

Mom : Heat the butter in a skillet over medium heat to cook your sandwich.

Tommy : I’ll cook my sandwich.

Mom : Don’t cook it too long, Tom. Flip it with the spatula until the bread is golden brown.

Tommy : Look, Mom. The chocolate is melted.

Mom : Right. Now, put it on your plate. Dust your sandwich with confectioners’ sugar and serve it alongside your favorite ice cream.

Tommy : Voila. This is Tommy’s chocolate sandwich. Thank you, Mom.

Mom : Anytime, my sweetheart.

Practice it with your friend next to you. Then, make a recording of it
